The Steel Collection is Gerri Robinson's first fabric line for PSD2, a new division of her Planted Seed Designs company. She created PSD2, Pure and Simple Designs for the NOW generation, in response to her sons' and extended families' requests for fabric and quilt designs geared toward the NOW generation. Her oldest son, Andrew, named the collection for its color palette of black, charcoal, gray, tan, goldenrod, and cream geometric prints and the streaks of silver metallic that run through most of the prints. PSD2 will create both modern and traditional quilts along with totes and bags and clothing for both men and women.
The Steel Collection has a wonderful "Call me/Text me" panel print. Half of the panel is printed with area codes for many US cities, from the west coast of Florida (863), across the country to Los Angeles (213) and on to Hawaii (808). Can you find yours? The second half of the panel features familiar text message abbreviations like OIC, bff, ruok, rotfl, and PCM. Squares, diamonds, circles, and a checkerboard, all with accents of silver metallic, and tiny tick marks without metallic accents complete the collection. The prints and colors make these fabrics perfect for quilts for men and boys, contemporary home decor and kitchen accessories, tailored shirts for men and women, classic totes and bags for women, and totes, portfolios, and pouches for electronic essentials for everyone.
